NEET UG

The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (Undergraduate), or NEET (UG), previously known as the All India Pre-Medical Test (AIPMT), is a nationwide entrance exam for students aspiring to pursue undergraduate degrees in medical (MBBS), dental (BDS), AYUSH (BAMS, BUMS, BHMS, BSMS), and BVSc courses at government and private institutions in India. It is also required for students planning to obtain their primary medical qualification abroad. The exam is administered by the National Testing Agency (NTA), which forwards the results to the Directorate General of Health Services under the Ministry of Education and to State Counselling Authorities for the allocation of seats. NEET-UG replaced the All India Pre-Medical Test (AIPMT) along with various other state and medical college pre-medical exams. However, due to legal challenges, it was not conducted in 2014 and 2015. NEET-UG serves as a single entrance exam for admissions to MBBS, BDS, AYUSH, and BVSc courses nationwide. It is one of the largest exams in India based on the number of registered applicants." With the enactment of the NMC Act in September 2019, NEET-UG became the sole entrance test for admissions to all medical colleges in India, including the All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) and the Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education & Research (JIPMER), which previously held their own separate exams.
